Patient Notice - Mounjaro information for patients on oral contraception

Dear Patients,

We would like to remind patients who are obtaining Mounjaro (tirzepatide) privately that this medication can reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills, particularly when treatment is started or when the dose is increased.

Mounjaro temporarily slows digestion, which may affect how well oral contraceptive pills (both the combined pill and the progestogen-only/mini pill) are absorbed.

If you are taking an oral contraceptive pill and have recently started Mounjaro or increased your dose (including doses obtained privately), please use additional contraception (such as condoms) for 4 weeks after each dose increase to ensure full contraceptive protection.
